Every youth is welcomed and respected for their individuality at the Boys and Girls Club of Botwood. Taking individuality and interests into consideration, club staff are dedicated to engaging youth in activities that will make a positive contribution to the community. Youth programs vary from leadership building, civic engagement, sports and much more!

Employment Opportunities
The Boys and Girls Club of Botwood offer rewarding youth employment opportunities. Through various partnerships, the Boys and Girls Club of Botwood employ youth to assist with program implementation and special events during out-of-school hours. Youth interested in making a positive difference in the lives of children and their community are encouraged to apply for contractual employment.

Volunteering
The success of the Boys and Girls Club of Botwood requires the support of volunteers to make positive changes in the lives of children and youth. Dedicated volunteers help enable children and youth to play, learn and develop valuable skills for life. There are many ways volunteers share their valued ‘Gift of Time’, while making a positive contribution to the Boys and Girls Club of Botwood.
Volunteering Details
Some volunteers contribute time to mentor children and youth, some share their expertise at the board table, while others chose to give their time at fundraising endeavours. Regardless of the volunteer placement, all volunteers bring skills that enrich the lives of the community’s children and youth. Career Zone
The Boys and Girls Club of Botwood is housed with a post secondary and career resource centre, Career Zone. The Career Zone is equipped with a Coordinator who assists with post secondary planning, scholarship opportunities and student aid. Supports are also available for job readiness including interview techniques and resume writing. Individuals wanting to take advantage of these and other free services are invited to contact the Coordinator to schedule an appointment.

Homework Haven
Homework Haven provides a quiet learning environment for members to complete assignments and prepare for tests. Members have access to resources such as pencils, paper and photocopying. The fully-equipped Kinsmen Connection computer lab is available for members with monitored internet access. Homework Haven members are served a healthy snack sponsored by Kids Eat Smart.

After School Program
When the bell rings, school is out and the doors to the Boys and Girls Club open to children (grades k-6) to participate in a variety of recreational activities. Children enrolled in this free program enjoy spending time with friends while making crafts, playing board games, exploring in the Kin Konnection and so much more! The after school program also focuses on personal wellness, nutrition and educational opportunities. Children attending the program are provided with a light healthy snack prepared by staff and volunteers.

Book Bag Assistance Program
This program is designed to assist families with the rising costs of going back to school. Book bags are filled with grade appropriate school supplies for the student in the upcoming academic year and distributed to the applicant.

Summer Programs
Summer Day Camp at the Boys and Girls Club of Botwood is dedicated to offering children (grades k-6) an exciting and fun experience. Each theme-based day is designed for day campers to build skills, use their imagination and create friendships. A nominal registration fee helps support the purchase of supplies and healthy snacks.

Basic Needs, Brighter Future 2018
The Basic Needs, Brighter Future program provides young people with resources to enhance and expand their access to food, education relating to food, and the development of healthy habits and life skills. Grants allow Clubs to feed more young people and their families, promote the importance of healthy habits, and educate Club staff and members.

Kid Food Nation
Kid Food Nation is a national initiative that helps kids and families develop food skills through hands-on experiences related to planning, preparing, and cooking. The program also features an online hub with resources for healthy eating and meal preparation, and a national recipe competition that encourages kids to put their food literacy skills into practice and submit original, healthy, and nutritious recipes. Our Kid Food Nation online hub was created by Corus Entertainment, and our program is developed through collaboration with Dietitians of Canada.
